Our cruise experiences

Our cruise experiences provide one of the best ways to experience Darwin Harbour.  Enjoy and experience a famous Darwin sunset, a city lights cruise or a half day sailing bbq lunch tour.

Our new Seawind 1160 Resort is specially designed for the tourist market providing cushioned and shaded seating.  It is a perfect vantage point close to the water to catch a glimpse of wildlife. Enjoy the cool afternoon breeze filling the sails that propels Kuru around the harbour.

Our route incorporates a relaxing unique sailing tour showcasing points of interest about the harbour’s ecological attributes, snippets of WWII on the harbour, early settlement and heritage.

Guests can take away an informative strip map that shows some of the history we will point out.

Our friendly crew are always available to chat with guests during the cruise.

Please note that both the BBQ Meal and Nibbles option are on the same vessel. Mid week cruises will require a minimum number/cost to cruise.

Cruise route and History strip map

The journey for the half day tour is generally always the same, however at sunset when there is more tide (tidal range can be from .5 - 7 m) and less breezes we have options different route options to take best advantage of wind and tide.

Our cruises commence generally from within Cullen Bay Marina, providing clients with an experience of a lock operation. Sometimes we do a lunch cruise which means some sunset cruises will board from the Mandorah Ferry Pontoon in Cullen Bay. This is outside the lock system so guests will be able to experience the lock on the return journey. As we depart Cullen Bay we motor into Fannie Bay then to the harbour.

On departing Fannie Bay we mainly sail Past Emery Point, and a small Cove (we call Beagle Cove) where the HMS Beagle anchored many years ago. We hoist the sails and make a course for Talc Head.

We provide guests with a strip map to take with them to remind them of the journey and history points that we talk about. A copy can be seen on the left of this screen.
